Aiming to encourage hotels and restaurants to improve their performances, Anugerah PHRI awards give recognition to a number of establishments.
he Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) handed out awards to outstanding establishments at Anugerah PHRI 2019 on Monday at the Grand Sahid Jaya hotel in Central Jakarta.
Held in conjunction with the association's 50th anniversary, the event also coincided with PHRI’s national working meeting, which started on Feb. 9.
Aiming to encourage hotels and restaurants to improve their performance, the Anugerah PHRI awards were presented to 10 hotels and/or resorts and four restaurants.
Among the awards were Best Resort Hotel, which went to The Haven Suites Bali Berawa, Best City Hotel for Grand Hyatt Jakarta, Best Four-Star Hotel for JS Luwansa Hotel Jakarta and Best Five-Star hotel for Mandarin Oriental Jakarta.

Meanwhile, the Best Nusantara (archipelago) Cuisine Restaurant award was presented to Sindang Reret in West Java, Best Oriental Cuisine Restaurant to Rumah Makan Mandala Jakarta and The Best Continental Cuisine Restaurant to Arena Pub & Restaurant Bali.
Special recognition awards covered three categories, namely Leading Wellness Resort for MesaStila Resort & Spa in the Central Java regency of Magelang, Leading Muslim Friendly Hotel for Rhadana in Bali and Outstanding Bahari (seafood) Restaurant for Rumah Makan Seafood Apong.
“The awards are given [to hotels and restaurants] to encourage [them] to improve their competitiveness,” Hariyadi Sukamdani, head of PHRI, told tribunnews.com.
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, who attended the event that night, was named Father of National Tourism by the PHRI, as the association considered him to be the first [Indonesian] president to appoint tourism as a leading sector and the nation's main economic source. (wir/mut)
