In a bid to support tourism and the local economy, especially in West Sumatra, national flag carrier Garuda Indonesia has announced that it will lower its ticket prices for the Jakarta-Padang route starting on Thursday.
According to a statement, the fares for the route will start at Rp 999,999 (US$71.33) one-way, a discount of 60 percent on the normal fare.
Applicable until April 12 with certain conditions, the ticket price does not include value-added taxes (PPN), the passenger service charge (PSC) or insurance.
"As the national flag carrier, we are fully aware of our main role in supporting regional tourism development and local activity, especially in terms of providing affordable air connectivity access," said Garuda Indonesia human capital director Heri Akhyar in a statement on Wednesday.
"We will continue to ensure that fare reductions are part of Garuda Indonesia's sustainable commitment to providing a five-star airline service with competitive fares that are accessible to all Indonesians." (kes)
