dunpazari Modern Museum (OMM) is slated to open in Eskişehir, a university town on the high-speed railway line between Istanbul and Ankara.
Japanese architecture firm Kengo Kuma and Associates, also behind the new V&A Dundee museum in Scotland, has been commissioned to design the building. The architecture has been inspired by traditional Ottoman wooden houses in Odunpazari, a historical district in Eskişehir that was known as a burgeoning wood market.
OMM will open in June, Lonely Planet reports. Erol Tabanca, Turkish businessman and art collector, founded this museum partly to display the artworks he has been collecting for 15 years, spanning works from the 1950s to the present day.
Apart from becoming a well-deserved house for art collections, the three-floor museum will also provide an enlightening spatial experience for visitors.

Lonely Planet writes that the museum complex will have various exhibition spaces and an atrium that lets in plenty of natural light.
Many of the artworks set to be on display are creations of acclaimed Turkish artists, while others are the works of international talent.
Inaugural exhibition will reportedly showcase around 200 works by 60 leading artists from Turkey, while also highlighting a new site-specific piece by Japanese bamboo artist Tanabe Chikuunsai IV.
Art enthusiasts may look forward to joining the museum’s public programs, which include seminars, artist talk shows and workshops. (sop/mut)
