Passengers in Lampung and Palembang, South Sumatra, who cancel their booking more than five minutes after making one will now be charged.
Ride-hailing application company Grab started implementing a cancellation fee for passengers in two Indonesian regions on Monday.
Passengers in Lampung and Palembang, South Sumatra, who cancel their booking more than five minutes after making one are now charged Rp 1,000 (7 US cents) for GrabBike and Rp 3,000 for GrabCar, according to a statement received by The Jakarta Post.

However, if the cancellation is made in less than five minutes, or if the driver arrives very late, appears not to be moving toward the passenger’s location or is the one to cancel, no fee will be charged.
"The cancellation fee will be deducted from users' OVO balance or automatically added to the cost of their upcoming trip," read the statement, adding that the entire fee would be given to the driver.
The new policy is currently still in its trial phase. (kes)
