he Nagekeo district in Flores, East Nusa Tenggara, will hold its first seafood festival to attract tourists as well as help boost the local economy.
The Nagekeo Seafood Festival is slated to be held on Nangadhero Beach in Aesesa subdistrict.
Nagekeo Regent Johannes Don Bosco told The Jakarta Post on Monday that the festival aimed to promote the area’s traditional cuisine and improve the welfare of local fishermen.
“We’ve always held cultural and nature festivals, but so far, we haven’t had a specific festival to promote the seafood dishes of Flores."

Although Johannes has yet to specify a date for the festival, he assured that visitors could expect to taste a wide variety of traditional dishes prepared by Nagekeo residents during the event.
Aside from food tasting, tourists will also be able to watch local fishermen grill various types of seafood in an outdoor venue, as well as live music performances and talk shows.
Indonesian Navy personnel will reportedly take part in the festival as well.
“They will help the locals clean up the area,” Johannes said. (dpk/kes)
