1. Mount Andong, Magelang
Only around 1,726 meters above sea level, this mountain is a popular destination in Magelang regency for beginners at hiking.
From base camp to the peak only requires a climb of around one or two hours. Facilities such as water sources, restaurants and toilets along the trail also make the hike easier.
As this mountain is usually very crowded during holidays, it is recommended to visit on weekdays.
2. Mount Besek, Wonogiri
Situated in Kismantoro district, Mt. Besek boasts a gorgeous panorama that will enthrall any traveler.
Reaching it is very easy since the path goes downhill from the parking area to the main destination.

3. Mount Gandul, Wonogiri
Located close to the city of Wonogiri, Mt. Gandul is also a convenient option for first-time climbers.
The parking area can be reached in only around 30 minutes from the city center. From there, visitors only need 15 minutes to walk through trail of stony steps.
4. Mongkrang Hill, Karanganyar
Most people think hiking in Karanganyar regency only involves Mt. Lawu. In fact is there is also one other newly opened hiking trail in the area, which leads to Mongkrang Hill.
Located in the southern part of Mt. Lawu, the hiking trail to Mongkrang Hill begins at Tlogo Dlingo. Recently it has become a favorite climbing choice for travelers as they only need one hour to reach the top.
The nearest hill top, and most popular one, is Mongkrang Temple 1. Meanwhile the higher tops are known as Mongkrang Temple 2 and Jobolarangan.
5. Mount Sepikul, Sukoharjo
Sukoharjo regency, though mostly home to lowlands, also has several mountains. One of them is Mt. Sepikul.
Though not very high, this mountain boasts breathtaking views, especially at sunset. Reaching it is also easy, requiring travelers to walk a convenient path for only around 10 to 15 minutes.
6. Mount Gajah Mungkur, Sukoharjo
Another interesting mountain in Sukoharjo is Gajah Mungkur. Hikers usually begin their journey from Pringapus hamlet, Gunungan village, Manyaran district, Wonogiri.
