Hotel management company RedDoorz has launched a sanitation and hygiene certification program for the hospitality industry.

The certification program, called HygienePass, is the result of collaboration between RedDoorz and the Indonesian Public Health Expert Association (IAKMI), with Hermawan Saputra of the board of experts of IAKMI.

Making its debut in Indonesia, HygienePass aims to create hygiene and sanitation standardization for the industry as preventive measures during the COVID-19 pandemic. The program also aims to boost travelers’ confidence in hotels.

As part of the initial step, RedDoorz will ensure that its 1,400 properties across the archipelago undergo a comprehensive audit, which is required to obtain the certification program.

Additionally, HygienePass is available to be applied by other hotels and the process will be facilitated by RedDoorz in coordination with IAKMI. The company has developed a technology that enables the audit and certification processes to be implemented digitally.

In order to qualify, each hotel has to routinely implement sanitation and cleanliness practices, including body temperature checks for all staff and incoming guests and provide antibacterial equipment to disinfect rooms and public areas. The audit process will be conducted by IAKMI.

Amit Saberwal, founder and CEO of RedDoorz, said it was important to plan ahead and ensure that hotels implemented sanitary and cleanliness measures to show their commitment to protecting their guests’ health and safety.

“We’re also aware that independent hotel owners are probably the most affected during this crisis and we’d be happy to have them join the certification program as we believe any hotel business will be able to benefit from its adoption,” Saberwal said in a statement, adding that he believed that HygienePass would generate new standards in the industry.

Hermawan said, “In light of COVID-19, it’s clear that the travel industry will be fundamentally changed. Safety and hygiene will be at the forefront of travelers’ minds. Now is the right time for Indonesia to uphold high sanitation standards.”

HygienePass will also be launched in the Philippines and Vietnam by partnering with local authorities.

Established in 2015, RedDoorz enables hotel owners to develop their businesses as the company helps them manage their distribution, pricing, marketing, customer experience and technology solutions. The company operates in Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines and Vietnam. (wir/wng)
