According to the official website of Schengen Visa Information, French consulates received 3.98 million short-stay visa requests, or 23.4 percent of the total 16.9 million Schengen visa applications filed abroad.

The rejection rate among the French consulates for Schengen visa requests was the third highest of all Schengen countries with 16 percent of applicants rejected.
Germany, which ranked second in the popularity list, received 2.17 million visa requests in 2019. Germany’s visa application rejection rate reached 9.8 percent last year.
The highest number of applications were from China, with 709,616 applications filed at French consulates in China and 31,817 at German ones. (gis/wng)
