Military attachés from 36 friendly countries gathered in Cisarua, Bogor regency, West Java, on Wednesday.
he Indonesian Military (TNI) hosted 36 military attachés from friendly countries at a gathering in Cisarua, Bogor regency, West Java, on Wednesday to build partnerships among armed forces.
The event was led by TNI International Cooperation Center (Puskersin) chief Air Cdre. Benny Arfan and was also attended by representatives of the Defense Ministry, the TNI headquarters and the TNI’s three branch headquarters.
“The event aims to disseminate the mechanism of international cooperation programs at the TNI headquarters,” Benny said in a written statement on Thursday.
“Puskersin is the gateway for international cooperation between the TNI and friendly countries, and we have to be able to create, develop, connect, improve and maintain defense cooperation well.”
Benny said that in general, proposals for bilateral military cooperation should be submitted to the TNI chief for approval.
“Approved submissions will be followed up by related TNI units as directed [by the TNI chief], while those that, for any reason, are not yet approved, will be responded to with a letter,” he said.
The TNI says it has cooperated with 20.37 percent of its 54 partner countries this year. For service-to-service cooperation, it cited a figure of 10 percent. The cooperative events included staff talks, visits and coordination programs.
