onths after being warmly received in Amman during his Middle East tour President Prabowo Subianto is now returning the hospitality, welcoming King Abdullah II of Jordan to Jakarta in a meeting that underscores their long-standing personal and diplomatic ties.
There were “many new opportunities” to strengthen the bond between Indonesia and Jordan, said the monarch as he opened official talks with Prabowo in Jakarta, expressing confidence that such efforts would succeed under the former defense minister’s “strength, courage and leadership”.
Jakarta's streets were swept, cleared and lined with Jordanian flags from as early as lunchtime on Friday, setting the stage for the king’s arrival and his evening meeting with Prabowo at the State Palace.
Flying in from his previous stop in Vietnam, King Abdullah arrived at Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport at around 4 p.m., where he was greeted by Prabowo, waiting at the foot of the airstairs to offer a salute and a warm embrace.
After a brief exchange, the two leaders shared a ride to the State Palace, where a stately welcome awaited, complete with motorcade escorts, flag-waving students and ceremonial gun salutes.

The pair then proceeded to closed-door talks, during which Abdullah reaffirmed his personal friendship with Prabowo, recalling decades of shared history with the former military general.
