efense Minister Prabowo Subianto met with Jordan’s King Abdullah on Monday in Amman to discuss the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, during which he also communicated Indonesia’s concerns about the Israeli offensive in the occupied Palestinian territory, especially the war’s mounting death toll.

"The Indonesian government is also continuing to monitor the worsening developments in Gaza closely," the president-elect told the Jordanian king, as quoted in a statement from the Defense Ministry on Tuesday.

Prabowo is also slated to represent President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo on Tuesday at a summit to discuss the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, initiated by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sissi, King Abdullah and United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Gutteres.

Earlier this month, Prabowo proposed sending peacekeeping troops if necessary to enforce a cease-fire in Gaza.

Speaking in Singapore at this year’s Shangri-La Dialogue, Asia's premier security conference, Prabowo said United States President Joe Biden's three-phase peace deal to end the war in Gaza was a step in the right direction.

"When needed and when requested by the UN, we are prepared to contribute significant peacekeeping forces to maintain and monitor this prospective cease-fire, as well as provide protection and security to all parties and all sides," he said at the time.

Prabowo also said President Jokowi had instructed him to convey Indonesia’s readiness "to evacuate, to receive and to [provide] medical care for up to 1,000 patients" from Gaza.
