ndonesia and Jordan pledged closer cooperation to address the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the West Bank during President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to Amman, following his attendance at the inaugural meeting of United States President Donald Trump's Board of Peace meeting.
Prabowo met with King Abdullah II at Basman Palace on Wednesday afternoon, where the two leaders held a tete-a-tete meeting, followed by a broader discussion with delegations from both countries, with talks revolving around “enhancing bilateral cooperation, humanitarian collaboration and promoting regional stability and peace”.
In their bilateral meeting, Abdullah lauded Indonesia’s commitment to the two-state solution to pave the way for lasting peace in Gaza, noting that it carries significant meaning for the Jordanian people and reaffirmed Jordan’s readiness to support Indonesia’s diplomatic initiatives.
“Your nation’s role, I believe, is very important in facing all the challenges in the region. I know how committed you are to the two-state solution,” said Abdullah, as quoted from a press release from Prabowo’s office.
Prabowo expressed appreciation for Jordan’s support of Indonesia’s efforts in promoting peace and highlighted Jordan’s strategic position near Gaza as a key factor in strengthening coordination between the two countries.
He also conveyed Indonesia’s deep concern over developments in the West Bank, noting that they could affect ongoing humanitarian and stabilization efforts in Gaza.
“Therefore, we want to strengthen and improve this cooperation. I believe my team will work very closely with yours so that we are always in a position to fully understand the situation and know exactly what will happen,” Prabowo told Abdullah.
