ndian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to arrive in Jakarta on Monday evening for a two-day state visit expected to deepen cooperation in key sectors from defense to energy, as the two Indo-Pacific nations seek to build on renewed momentum in their strategic partnership.
Modi’s visit will reciprocate President Prabowo’s state trip to India taken in January 2025, during which both leaders pledged to expand cooperation across trade, defense, maritime affairs and food security. The trip also saw Prabowo attend India’s 76th Republic Day celebrations as chief guest.
During his trip this week, Modi is set to hold bilateral talks with Prabowo, attend a state banquet and address the Indian diaspora community in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Modi is also expected to deliver a speech at the House of Representatives in Central Jakarta, according to Indian Ambassador to Indonesia Sandeep Chakravorty.
“The speeches for the diaspora and the House will find [the Prime Minister] spelling out his vision for the region, for the world, and also India’s ties with Indonesia,” Chakravorty told a press briefing on Friday.

Modi will then travel to Yogyakarta on Wednesday, where he is expected to announce the commencement of India’s restoration of the historic Prambanan Temple, building on a 2025 agreement made during Prabowo’s visit to India.
