UI student named valedictorian at University of Queensland

Following Ayu’s achievement, the UQ School of Psychology offered to waiver the full tuition of three UI students who want to take its honors program.

niversity of Indonesia (UI) student Ayu Namira Paramecwari has been named valedictorian of her graduating class at the University of Queensland (UQ), Australia.

According to Antara news agency, Ayu was a student at UI's School of Psychology, class of 2015. She took the international bachelor’s dual-degree program and spent three semesters in Indonesia. She transferred to UQ to complete her studies, earning her two degrees from both UI and UQ.

During her study, Ayu received UI-UQ's full tuition waiver. She graduated with cum laude from UI and received UQ Employability Award for her participation in various activities.

UI head of public relations and public information Rifelly Dewi Astuti said that Ayu’s achievement had brought international, public attention to Indonesia's higher education sector.

Rifelly added that following Ayu’s achievement, the UQ School of Psychology offered to waiver the full tuition of three UI students who wanted to take its honors program.

Meanwhile, Ayu did not expect to be named valedictorian. She said she planned to continue her studies and take the honors program at UQ. (jes/kes)
