Delivery robots (Dbots) have revolutionized managed network services and boosted business efficiency

Telkomtelstra recently won the best innovation award for its delivery robots (Dbots) technology at the Asia Communication Awards 2017 (ACA 2017). The award ceremony took place on May 24 at the Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel.

Telkomtelstra started developing the Dbots in cooperation with Jawdat Technology in June 2016 and launched them for commercial use in October 2016. Currently, the Dbots use the company’s cloud platform to automate the company’s delivery services for its managed network service (MNS) customers. The new technology has improved the quality of the company’s delivery services, while reducing the activation period for its customer premises equipment and automatically minimizing mistakes in the network configuration process.

The Asia Communication Awards, meanwhile, has served as an annual platform for business people to recognize the performance and innovations of Asian telecommunications industry players, from operators, service providers and vendors since they were launched in 2011. The awards have become an important foundation to celebrate the impact of innovative contributions of businesses to the evolution of the global telecommunications industry.

Putting it briefly, Dbots apply a new approach in delivery services. By using software to replicate human interaction through network devices, Dbots are capable of performing a number of functions, including staging, testing and configuration, for MNS customers. Through Dbots, thousands of devices automatically perform staging, testing and configuration of the MNS, thereby minimizing human error while creating cost and time efficiency during the delivery process. The solution has been proven to reduce the CPE activation period by 83 percent. These features of the Dbots helped telkomtelstra stand out at the ACA 2017.

“We are proud to be recognized by the Asia Communication Awards, the most prestigious telecommunications industry forum in the Asian region,” Telkomtelstra president director Erik Meijer said.

“The award is an accolade for our performance in developing an innovative solution that helps MNS customers implement the migration of their network devices rapidly for their infrastructure transformation,” he added.

“We develop Dbots to cater to our customers’ needs in providing a faster delivery service without sacrificing quality. Equipped with Jawdat technology, we are developing Dbots as our first automation initiative in supporting various delivery service volumes, starting from a small to a very heavy load,” telkomtelstra design and delivery solutions vice president Asi Christo explained.

“Capable of being operated through just one click, the technology provides optimum automation to fulfill customers’ needs. We are very proud that the Indonesian innovation has been recognized by ACA 2017 as the region’s best innovation,” he added.

Dbots are designed to change conventional delivery methods by using cloud technology that can help companies boost their productivity while driving efficiency to advance their businesses. The primary advantages of Dbot technology are a more rapid delivery period, increased profits, decrease in project capital allocation, cost efficiency and the simplification of complex delivery process, among other things.

“Dbots is a robotic software which can be used to reduce errors in regular task implementation within the managed network environment (MNE) system,” Telkomtelstra chief product and synergy officer Agus F. Abdillah stated.

“Now, managed service providers (MSP), including telkomtelstra, endeavor to be able to apply the leading automation technology in their operations. In this case, telkomtelstra uses smart software to simplify the operation system, driving efficiency, improving service system and maintaining prices so that they are still affordable for our customers,” he added.

Because Dbots operate on an infinite cloud-based network, they enable scalability in every network environment. The technology provides a better digital experience while increasing operational efficiency by 82 percent through automation. It also increases the processing time efficiency of each device by 84 percent.

Taking the advantages of Dbot technology into account, Agus said the company planned to continue to innovate it through software upgrades that make use of future technological advancements.
