est Java Province Cooperatives and Small Business Office head Kusmana Hartadji, BNI Region 04 Bandung head Maya Agustina, Forever Harvest Co., Ltd representative Agus Mubarok and BNI treasure and international director Henry Panjaitan pose after signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Bandung, West Java, on Tuesday (6/21). BNI continues to expand partnerships and develop the capacity of export-import-oriented micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) borrowers, with BNI’s export transaction volume growing by 30.62 percent through January to May.

With stronger economic growth in 2022 and the COVID-19 pandemic under control, state-owned PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, (BNI, stock code: BBNI) continues to develop its global capabilities in the next-normal era by expanding partnerships and the capacity of export-import oriented micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Recently, BNI signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Forever Harvest Success, representing an Indonesian-owned wholesale supplier of 80 partnering retail stores in Hong Kong, Forever Harvest Co., Ltd.

The signing was led by BNI Region 04 Bandung head Maya Agustina and representative of Forever Harvest Co., Ltd Agus Mubarok with BNI treasure and international director Henry Panjaitan in Bandung on Tuesday.

The MoU signing was part of the Regional Trade Talk Series in BNI Region 04 Bandung with the theme MSMEs Go Global: How to be an Excellent Exporter and Optimize Global Market Opportunity.

The talk show invited expert speakers including the head of compliance and public relations guidance at the West Java Customs and Excise Office Fino Vianto and head of the West Java Industry and Trade Office Iendra Sofyan.

Also present was International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Indonesia senior advisor Haryadi Sarpini, expert in the implementation of international trade agreements Ponirin Sugito and a representative of Forever Harvest Co., Ltd, an Indonesian diaspora company in Hong Kong. They explained various strategies and tips to help West Java MSMEs succeed in optimizing business opportunities to enter the global market.

BNI’s Henry said the company was a government bank that had received the government of Go Global. The bank had made various efforts to expand its market base while increasing the value of the national economy as well as MSMEs as the backbone of the economy. Throughout January-May, BNI recorded an increase of value in export transactions by 30.62 percent.

According to Henry, the collaboration with Forever Harvest Success was a strategic step in optimizing the competitiveness of export-oriented MSMEs, especially in West Java. Through this collaboration, BNI hoped that MSMEs could receive comprehensive knowledge and increase their capacity and business reach to help them penetrate the global market.

Through the BNI Regional Trade Talk Series in Bandung, Henry added, BNI could collaborate with relevant organizations in West Java to hold lectures and sharing sessions about finding business opportunities and how to be a reliable exporter.

“We facilitate export-oriented West Java MSME players to meet and explore partnerships with Forever Harvest Success. We hope that in the future, these MSMEs can become supplier partners of Forever Harvest Co., Ltd and successfully penetrate the Hong Kong market," Henry said.

Henry added that the strategic venture between BNI and Forever Harvest Success could positively contribute to the expansion of BNI’s business volume through the utilization of financing products and services, cash management, trade finance, remittances and other transactional banking products.

In addition, BNI can facilitate matchmaking between Indonesian exporters and potential buyers through its overseas branches in Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo, London, New York, Seoul and its newest branch in Amsterdam. “BNI branches abroad can provide advisory services on market insight and local regulations related to customs, tax and more. They can also offer special financing schemes for Indonesian businesses starting from the corporate, medium and small level so that they can penetrate the global market,” Henry concluded.
