he Selangor International Business Summit 2023 (SIBS 2023) will be back for its seventh year, this time bearing the theme Selangor, Gateway to ASEAN. The four-day event is initiated by the Selangor state government and organized by Invest Selangor Bhd to continue its role as the premier regional summit for local and international industry players to convene and explore the potential of the Malaysian market.
It is reported that SIBS 2023 is expected to bring in as much as RM1.5 billion (more than US$337 million) from potential negotiated sales with the event’s 1050 booths. Anticipating an attendance of at least 50,000 trade visitors, the event will be held in eight expo halls and two conference halls in the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in the capital.
SIBS 2023 will be held from Oct. 19-22 and will feature a total of six unique concurrent events, namely the ninth Selangor International Expo (SIE) that will focus on the food & beverages industry, as well as a separate event for the medical industry, and the third Selangor Industrial Park Expo (SPARK), which will showcase industrial park operators and developers from Malaysia and the region.
This year, Invest Selangor also presents the Hosted Buyers Program, an exclusive hospitality program that caters to a group of trade buyers, offering them deluxe perks such as complimentary two-way airport transfers and a two-night stay at a nearby premium hotel. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to engage in valuable B2B meetings with exhibitors at the esteemed SIE (F&B) and SIE (Medic) exhibition halls to get as much as they can from the event.
The opportunity for networking will be plenty. The SIE F&B is expected to be attended by 329 exhibition stalls to attract more food industry operators and food supply chains from home and abroad, while the SIE Medic will have to make room for a total of 115 exhibition booths. SPARK 2023, on the other hand, will host a total of 224 exhibition booths. It is hoped that with the aforementioned program, Invest Selangor can entice a total of 500 domestic and international trade buyers to join in on the fun.
The main objective of the summit is to provide a platform to buyers and investors to connect and communicate with each other, ultimately enabling them to broaden their market reach, stay up-to-date with current industry trends and explore cutting-edge technology and innovative products that could elevate their business operations.
Moreover, the summit will also offer more exposure to and insights into the untapped potential of these advanced solutions for their goods or services to a diverse audience from various industries and countries, with the opportunity to showcase their products in booths during the event. It is hoped that this could be seen as a first step for local businesses to grow beyond their usual market reach.
