hether they were going home after a long day at work or joining in on some family fun during Sunday’s Car Free Day, commuters passing through Jakarta at the weekend encountered 3D action during their travels, with an animated cat playfully peering out to brighten up their day.
The recently installed advert, shown in strategic spots on the Grand Indonesia, Plaza Indonesia and Ratu Plaza malls in Central Jakarta, is currently displayed at a 90-degree angle on billboards spanning two sides of the buildings.
Pedestrians positioned at the right spot could experience an optical illusion, as if seeing the cat jumping out for a cuddle.
The cute cat friend joins a growing trend of 3D animations seen on billboards across major cities around the world, and is part of a new ad campaign by consumer electronics company Samsung, which recently launched new editions to the Neo QLED 8K, Neo QLED 4K and OLED ranges of Samsung’s ultra-premium television.
The illusion of depth immerses watchers in a new reality, and with such a fun visual experience, commuters might be seduced to stop and experience this emergence of a new reality – one that makes all negative thoughts vanish while sat in traffic.
