oordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, visited Batam on June 5. During his visit, Airlangga inaugurated six new high-tech companies with a future-oriented focus in the Wiraraja Industrial Park, Batam.
In his speech, Airlangga expressed his appreciation to the chairman of the Badan Pengusahaan Batam(BP Batam), Muhammad Rudi, and the entire team who have worked hard in managing the free trade and free port area.
"I see that the energy of the chairman of BP Batam and BP Batam is strong. I also see that infrastructure development is going well. Of course, with this enthusiastic development, industries are entering the Batam region, and the investments are not small but rather significant," Airlangga stated.
During the visit, Muhammad Rudi emphasized the importance of all stakeholders in Batam in maintaining the area's conduciveness for the future. This aligns with the government's efforts to accelerate the current road infrastructure development.
"We appreciate and fully support the companies investing in Batam. We hope that this step will stimulate our economic growth," said Muhammad Rudi.
Meanwhile, the Wiraraja Industrial Park has attracted investments worth Rp 12 trillion (US$800 million), creating job opportunities for approximately 13,000 people.
"Additionally, silica sand downstreaming is currently being carried out in this industrial area, which requires significant energy, good environmental protection and a strong market," explained Coordinating Minister Airlangga.
Coordinating Minister Airlangga also mentioned the development of a solar power plant (PLTS) within the area, a project that has been designated as a National Strategic Project (PSN).
"Furthermore, Indonesia is also in discussions with Singapore regarding the use and export of this energy to Singapore. This is expected to bring significant changes to the energy sector in Batam, especially after establishing the Special Economic Zone in Nongsa," said Airlangga.
The profiles of the six new companies are as follows: PT Apollo Solar Indonesia, engaged in the manufacturing of solar modules (solar panels); PT Marubeni Global Indonesia, involved in power generation, transmission, distribution and sales of electricity as a whole; PT Tynergy Technology Group, engaged in manufacturing, semiconductors and derivatives; PT Wiraraja Yunan International, involved in the manufacturing of stretch films; PT Alpha Solar Indonesia, producing polycrystalline solar panels, being an integrated company from upstream to downstream; and PT Jaya Electrical Energy, engaged in the manufacturing of solar cells and cooling machinery.
