nvestment Minister Bahlil Lahadalia has conceded that adjustments will be made to the deadlines for the relocation of residents and construction timeline of the Rempang Eco City project.
“Given the current circumstances, [deadline] adjustments are necessary. We must address the issues at hand,” Bahlil told the press on Monday after a meeting with House of Representatives Commission VI, which oversees investment.
He said the Eco-City development company entrusted the government with the land-clearance timeline.
“While Xinyi has its business plans in place, they understand that flexibility is crucial as long as the land-completion process remains conducive,” explained Bahlil.
Xinyi International Investment had hoped to commence construction in November, aligning with the land-clearing target, according to the minister.
The government had previously set Sept. 28 as the deadline for clearing the land, but later pushed it back.
