With the new spending for Nusantara next year, the government would spend over Rp 96 trillion in total to develop the city until 2025, exceeding its planned state budget allocation limit for the project.

The Public Works and Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono has requested an additional budget of Rp 20.32 trillion (US$1.3 billion) to continue the construction of Nusantara, the future capital city located in East Kalimantan, next year.
Basuki, who also serves as interim head of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) Authority, stressed that the Finance Ministry had only earmarked Rp 4.19 trillion in the proposed 2025 state budget, which he deemed insufficient to advance the project.
The minister conveyed his request during a meeting with the House of Representatives Commission V, which oversees transportation and infrastructure, on Thursday, urging the budget committee to support the additional allotment.
“Hopefully members of the budget committee of Commission V can understand and support the extra budget, because according to our information, there is still fiscal space for the president-elect to allocate it,” said Basuki.
