ingapore’s Energy Market Authority (EMA) has issued more conditional approvals to import 1.4 gigawatts (GW) of low-carbon electricity from two Indonesian solar power projects managed by consortiums Total Energies RGE and Shell Vena Energy.

The latest decision follows last year’s conditional approvals to import 2 GW of low-carbon electricity from five Indonesian companies: Pacific Medco Solar Energy, Adaro Solar International, EVP Renewables APAC, Vanda RE and Keppel Energy.

“When ready, these two projects will export a combined 1.4 GW of additional low-carbon electricity from Indonesia to Singapore,” Singaporean Manpower Minister Tan See Leng, who is also second minister for trade and industry, said on Thursday at the Indonesia International Sustainability Forum (IISF) in Jakarta.

He also noted that Indonesia would have exported 3.4 GW of solar power to Singapore at the completion of the projects, which was in line with the city-state’s plan to import up to 4 GW of green electricity from its neighbors by 2035.

Meanwhile, the five companies granted conditional approvals from the EMA last year “continue to make concrete progress towards final investment decisions”, Tan said.

“And this is particularly important, because we want cross-border electricity trading to be a win-win proposition for all parties,” he added.
