ared Kushner, businessman and son-in-law of United States president-elect Donald Trump, has expressed an interest in investing in Indonesia, Investment and Downstream Minister Rosan Roeslani has said.

Rosan made the statement after attending a closed-door meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and the US-Indonesia Society (USINDO) on his second day of a visit to Washington, DC on Monday, which was joined by several US company executives, including from Freeport McMoRan, ExxonMobil and Chevron.

However, Rosan did not reveal the size of the investment.

“[The discussion] with Jared Kushner was actually some time ago, [he] happened to be invited to dinner, and I was also there at that time. Jared Kushner wants to invest in Indonesia,” he said on Tuesday, as quoted from the official President Secretariat YouTube channel.

Prabowo has encouraged US companies not to shy away from channeling their investments into Indonesia.

Ted Osius, former deputy chief of mission to Indonesia and USINDO advisor, expressed appreciation for President Prabowo’s openness and support. He also sought to bring several US business leaders to Indonesia early in December.

“We are thrilled because Indonesia has a president who is very pro-business, who warmly welcomed us, and who explained very clearly during the discussion how he would welcome business with the US and other countries,” he said, according to the press release from the cabinet secretary.
