T

he Industry Ministry is seeking to expand its collaboration with Boeing in various aviation industry segments, including in maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services.

The ministry welcomed representatives from the United States-based aircraft manufacturer at its Jakarta offices on Thursday to discuss partnerships in the development of the aerospace industry.

During the visit, Deputy Industry Minister Faisol Riza encouraged Boeing to explore potential for growth in Indonesia, including by granting local players an MRO license.

“Indonesia has AeroAsia and Batam AeroTechnic that need capability improvement to develop the industry ecosystem,” said Faisal in a press release published on Thursday.

He added that the country also needed an aviation training center and pointed to Boeing’s collaboration with local players in India, noting that Batam as well as Bintan in Riau Islands were among several locations that offered potential for collaboration.
