View all search resultsThree new suspects have been detained as part of the South Jakarta DAO's expanding probe into the graft scandal involving TaniHub that has been linked to SOE venture funds, underscoring the broader issues of transparency and accountability in the start-up landscape.
he South Jakarta District Attorney’s Office (DAO) has detained three individuals as part of an expanding investigation into alleged corruption and money laundering involving the now-defunct agritech start-up, PT Tani Group Indonesia (TaniHub).
The case pertains to a US$25 million investment from venture capital firms linked to state-owned enterprises (SOEs) between 2019 and 2023.
“On Monday, July 28, 2025, investigators at the South Jakarta District Attorney’s Office named and detained three suspects,” the office wrote on its Instagram account.
The three suspects were identified by their initials as DSW, director of PT MDI Ventures, IAS, former president director of TaniHub, and ETPLT, a former director at TaniHub.
Publicly available information online indicate the individuals could be MDI Ventures director Donald Wihardja, former TaniHub former president director Ivan Arie Sustiawan and former TaniHub director Edison Tobing.
Authorities allege that the suspects misused funds channeled into TaniHub and its affiliates through manipulated investment documents and unauthorized disbursements. All three will remain in custody for an initial period of 20 days until Aug. 16.
The investment at the center of the investigation was made by MDI Ventures and BRI Ventures, the venture capital arms of state-owned PT Telkom Indonesia and Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), respectively.
