The fast-paced modern lifestyle, especially among white-collar workers, has caused many people to unknowingly neglect their body balance, with prolonged sitting and lack of movement (sedentary lifestyle) increasing the risk of diabetes.

According to the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), the prevalence of diabetes in Indonesia reached 11.3 percent of the population by 2024, or more than 20 million adults. This figure serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining a healthy diet, exercising regularly and monitoring blood sugar levels, not only for diabetes sufferers but also for the younger generation.

Prof. Dr. dr. Mardi Santoso, DTM&H, SpPD-KEMD, FINASIM, FACE, chair of PERSADIA in the Jabodebek region, explained that good blood sugar management can actually start with simple daily habits such as meeting a balanced nutritional intake, choosing the right foods and staying active to stay fit and happier.

“Through the education we are presenting on World Diabetes Day, we want to encourage the public to understand that maintaining health doesn't have to be difficult, but can actually start with small steps taken together."

As an academic and medical partner, UKRIDA Hospital plays an active role in providing free health checks and providing education about blood sugar management.

Dr. Gracia. JMT. Winaktu, MS, SpGK, UKRIDA Hospital’s clinical nutrition specialist, said maintaining blood sugar is not only about early detection, but also about managing a good diet by applying the 3J principle (Jadwal, Jumlah, Jenis or Schedule, Amount, Type) with three main meals and three snacks along with maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Through the "Bahagia Bareng Dia" spirit, Diabetasol aims to demonstrate that maintaining blood sugar levels is not a burden, but rather a journey toward happiness and balance. Cross-sector collaboration is a concrete step by Diabetasol in promoting a sustainable healthy lifestyle so that everyone can live healthier, more active and happier lives.
