S

olar power developer SUN Energy is expanding its business in 2026 by offering sustainable integrated solutions for the industrial sector to accelerate industrial decarbonization.

“Entering 2026, our focus no longer on solar energy projects only but also on the development of energy storage, such as Battery Energy Storage System [BESS], especially for industrial sector with high energy needs and complex operations, such as mining, heavy manufacturing and other potentials sectors,” SUN Energy chief executive officer Emmanuel Jefferson Kuesar said in a press release on Monday.

“The integration between power generation, storage and energy management system will become an important foundation to ensure supply reliability and emission efficiency.”

Emmanuel said the company was open to closer cooperation with industrial zones to build integrated energy systems, including integration with the electrification of an operational vehicle fleet.

“This approach allows the industry to manage energy and emission as a whole, from energy source, storage to mobility, as part of their long-term business strategy,” he added.

SUN Energy will continue strengthening its role in the industrial sector while expanding its involvement in the independent power producer (IPP) sector, the company said in the press release.

The company said that it will also strengthen the integration of SUN Mobility, as transportation and infrastructure electrification solutions, and SUN Terras, which focuses on the optimization and management of solar energy system.

The integration was designed to bring a sustainable solution, covering energy, mobility and integrated resources management to support the entire agenda of industrial decarbonization.

The company focused its 2025 activities on strengthening technical, operational and digital capabilities to assist the industrial sector in managing energy, emission and operational efficiency in a more systematical way, cross-location and long term, the company said.

SUN Energy said it reached an important milestone by successfully implementing Containerized BESS (CBESS) in the mining sector at coal miner PT Cipta Kridatama’s site in Muara Bungo, Jambi.

This project was the first CBESS implementation in Indonesia and marked the company’s solutions from a solar power plant to an integrated energy system which can fulfill industrial operations needs with the characteristics of high and fluctuating loads.

The implementation of CBESS allows optimizing renewable energy use, increasing the reliability of electricity supply and reducing reliance on fossil energy sources in mining areas, the company claimed.

This success opens the replication of similar opportunities for other sectors with critical energy needs, such as heavy manufacturing, smelter and large-scale integrated industrial zones.

SUN Energy currently operates 420-megawatts solar power plants in four countries, producing more that 650 million kilowatt hours of clean energy, and contributed to lowering carbon emissions of up to 506 million kilograms of CO2, or equal to the planting of 5.9 million trees per year.

In Indonesia, SUN Energy has developed industrial sector solar power generation with an installed capacity of 240 MW, making it one of the largest solar power developers in Indonesia.

The largest growth was recorded in sectors with high energy intensity, such as cement, fast moving consumer goods, paper, plastic packaging, electronics and automotive components. SUN Energy’s clients are concentrated in the national manufacturing centers of Banten, West Java and East Java provinces.
