ndonesia’s manufacturing activity expanded at its fastest pace in nearly two years in February, driven by stronger domestic and overseas demand, according to a monthly survey by S&P Global released on Monday.

The country’s headline Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) rose to 53.8 in February from 52.6 in January, marking the highest reading since March 2024. The index remained above the 50-point threshold, which separates expansion from contraction.

“Demand conditions were positive, as sales rose solidly, contributing to increases in production, employment and purchasing activity,” said S&P Global Market Intelligence economist Usamah Bhatti in the report.

The pickup was driven by stronger new orders, which expanded for a seventh consecutive month and advanced at the fastest pace since November 2025.

The country entered the fasting month of Ramadan in mid-February, which will end with Idul Fitri in mid-March, a period that historically lifts demand for food, clothing and certain services.
