In an exclusive interview with CNN Indonesia, Putri said that the instant global recognition felt like a dream and she had a hard time waking up.
eventeen-year-old Indonesian singer Putri Ariani, who shot to international acclaim for her powerful singing at an audition for America’s Got Talent (AGT) said in a new interview on Thursday that she thanked both the Indonesian and global audience for their rapturous response to her performance.
In an exclusive interview with CNN Indonesia, Putri said the instant global recognition felt like a dream and she had a hard time waking up.
"I can't describe it in words. It still feels like a dream. I am grateful and very happy," the 11th grader said in the interview aired on Thursday.
Putri said she was taken by surprise with the response both from the Indonesian and international crowd who watched her performance on Tuesday.
Putri, who attended a music school in Bantul, Yogyakarta, and has written 10 original compositions, swept the reality show’s audience and judges off their feet, leading her to win the highly coveted Golden Buzzer from Simon Cowell.
The video of her performance at the AGT went viral on social media and she became one of trending topics on Twitter earlier this week.
Putri performed her original composition "Loneliness," for the AGT, something that was lost on the judges of the show who thought that the song was written by professional songwriters.
