“People usually redesign their homes around New Year or Chinese New Year to invite a fresh new atmosphere,” Janice Christine, interior designer of the Twentyfifth Interior Design Studio, said when interviewed during the 15th anniversary of Indonesian furniture brand Forme in their showroom in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Dec. 8, 2023.

"The trend in home interiors this year is revisiting the 70s, with a rising preference for darker natural tones to cultivate a more opulent ambiance," Santi Alaysius, co-founder and principal designer of the interior design firm Domisilium Studio, stated.
The retro 1970s interior style encapsulates a distinctive aesthetic characterized by deep earthy hues, bold psychedelic patterns and a fusion of natural materials.
“Today’s trend leans toward a refurbished retro, blending freshness and modernity while incorporating a touch of 1970s vibes,” Janice Tjioe, founder and principal interior designer of Janice Tjioe Interiors, elaborated.
