Women’s fashion in 2024 is following a cyclical trend by returning to the 1990s style of monochromatic hues, simple yet elegant.
s we step into 2024, the realm of fashion has quietly undergone a subtle, yet significant transformation. The usual burst of vibrant colors that typically characterizes spring/summer collections has yielded to a more refined palette of demure tones
Fashion powerhouses like Dior, Gucci and Dries Van Noten lead this monochromatic renaissance, challenging the conventional kaleidoscope of fresh colors with a dominance of black, white, gray and nude tones in their collections.
Splashes of peach, lime green and denim blue add occasional vibrancy, crafting an understated yet impactful aesthetic.
The recent 81st Golden Globe Awards also offered a glimpse into this prevailing trend with the likes of Carey Mulligan, Lily Gladstone and Meryl Streep gracing the red carpet in sleek, monochromatic ensembles by their favored designers.
What has prompted this shift toward classic elegance during the traditionally vibrant seasons of warmth and blossoms? What's the story behind the sudden preference for a more subdued yet sophisticated fashion language?
"The fashion world is resurrecting the 1990s styles and their monochromatic tones," Ichwan Thoha, fashion designer and lecturer, explained.
"In the 90s, minimalistic styles emerged due to the economic recession,” he added.
