Kompas Travel Fair 2023 to support recovery of Indonesian tourism

he Kompas Travel Fair (KTF) is making a return to satisfy Indonesian travelers’ wanderlust, with its latest iteration set to be held from Sept. 1-3 in Hall 5 and Hall 6 of the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD Tangerang.
The exhibition, which offers a variety needs for tourists, carries the tagline “Yuk Berangkat” (let's go), expresses the desire of people who cannot wait to pack their bags and set off.
Held by Kompas daily in collaboration with Bank Mandiri and Bank OCBC, KTF 2023 will be attended by various service providers and travel industry players, providing various products and services ranging from tour packages, airplane tickets and tourist attraction tickets to travel equipment.
KTF 2023 is also a golden opportunity for travel enthusiasts to find attractive promos and offers that are only available at the fair, such as the Ace Japan Algonam-z series suitcase at a price of Rp 399,000. In addition, the promos include cashback of up to Rp 4.5 million, discounts of up to 50 percent, 0 percent installments for up to 12 months, along with a range of free vouchers and many more.
Optimism of travel industry
KTF 2023 reflects the Indonesian travel industry’s optimism about its recovery, which started to pick up in 2022 after stagnating during the pandemic. Data from the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry for 2022 showed that the number of visits by foreign and domestic tourists exceeded its targets, with 5.5 million foreign tourists arriving throughout the year, above the target of 1.8 million to 3.6 million arrivals. Meanwhile, domestic visitors made 800 million trips, above the target of 550 million trips.
In line with the enthusiasm of the tourist sector in the first quarter of 2023, the government raised the target to 8.5 million visits by foreign tourists from the original 3.5 million to 7.4 million visits, along with projected foreign exchange earnings of US$6 billion, up from the previous target of $2.07 billion to $5.95 billion. In addition, the target for domestic visitors stands at 1.2 billion to 1.4 billion trips.
"That the number of tourists in 2022 exceeded the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry’s target shows that people's passion for tourism has risen, and we hope this trend will continue going forward. Through KTF 2023, we are seeking to encourage this positive trend. Especially as in its 10th edition KTF is providing solutions and bringing innovation to the tourist sector in Indonesia," said Kompas deputy business director Novi Eastiyanto.
Bring back the spirit of traveling
KTF has historically drawn large and enthusiastic crowds, with more than 50,000 visitors attending the three-day KTF 2019.
This year's event, which marks a decade of KTF, carries the tagline of “Yuk Berangkat”, which expresses the feelings of many people who can't wait to travel after the relaxation of various restrictions related to the pandemic last year.
"Yuk Berangkat" reflects the desire of the community to make tourism one of its priorities. However, traveling, whether individually or in groups, must be planned to satisfy the desire for a comfortable and enjoyable vacation, KTF will be able to help meet those needs.
