T Pertamina (Persero) is committed to continuously strengthening the development of household gas networks to accelerate Indonesian energy transition.
During a meeting with the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission X on the central government’s capital injection into state-owned enterprises (SOEs), Pertamina finance director Emma Sri Martini stated that Pertamina would continue to optimize the utilization of household gas networks and gas refueling stations (SPBG) as part of the energy transition infrastructure to achieve the goal of net-zero emissions (NZE) by 2060.
"In the future, household gas networks will play an important role in the context of the energy transition. Of course, support is needed to ensure household gas network assets function and perform optimally in implementing the energy transition," Emma said on Tuesday.
According to Emma, the presence of household gas networks managed by PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN), Pertamina's gas subholding unit, has encouraged the public to utilize natural gas for household needs. Gas has also been used by the public for transportation through SPBGs.
Emma added that Pertamina had received non-cash state capital injections (PMN) for the 2021 to 2023 period in the form of household gas networks and SPBG facilities and infrastructure, which include 82 household gas network routes, 1 SPBG and 1 SPBG pipeline infrastructure package.
"In terms of household gas network connections, the current PMN has reached 426,385 household connections (SRT) with the majority spread across Java and others in Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Papua," said Emma.
Emma further stated that the PMN had been effectively utilized to provide various energy services to the public and that it had also positively impacted Pertamina's financial performance.
