Humanitarian aid: Human Initiative and partners provide support for Palestine

T

he humanitarian disaster affecting Gaza, Palestine, has captured the global community's attention. The escalating crisis that began in October 2023 has drawn international support. In this context, Human Initiative, a global humanitarian organization, has launched the "Palestine 300 Days: Humanitarian Aid Continues" initiative. This initiative demonstrates a sustained commitment to humanitarian support amid the Gaza-Palestine crisis.

On the 300th day since the major escalation, Human Initiative and its partners introduced the "Palestine 300 Days: Humanitarian Aid Continues" movement. At an event held at CGV FX Sudirman, Jakarta on Aug. 2. Human Initiative presented the current situation and the humanitarian aid sent by Indonesians to Palestine. This aid was gathered through collaboration with the Indonesian community and various groups such as One Day One Juz (ODOJ), BTS ARMY Indonesia, Fitrop & Warga CPR and others.

Tomy Hendrajati, president of Human Initiative, said the events in Gaza-Palestine highlighted the generosity of the Indonesian people. Human Initiative believes this phenomenon is not just about generosity but a strong humanitarian calling when witnessing the severe suffering in Gaza-Palestine.

“Human Initiative did not expect such overwhelming support for the Gaza-Palestine struggle, especially for humanitarian organizations delivering aid. This support comes from many communities across different hobbies, interests and groups. The events in Gaza-Palestine have sparked both generosity and humanitarian concern, which we must uphold,” said Tomy.

While challenges to delivering humanitarian aid remain, conveying the goodwill and concern of Indonesians to Gaza-Palestine is more complex. Despite these challenges, Human Initiative remains determined and enthusiastic about delivering aid to those in need.

“Humanitarian organizations, particularly Human Initiative, employ various approaches in their response. This includes being part of the Indonesian humanitarian aid delegation to Gaza, collaborating with local partners in Palestine through the Indonesian Humanitarian Alliance, and establishing strategic partnerships with entities that can deliver aid to Gaza-Palestine. These steps facilitate and ensure the safety of humanitarian workers,” he explained.

Facilitating the goodwill of Indonesians to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza-Palestine is challenging, Tomy continued. Despite this, the effort to continue this mandate persists, reaching 219,815 individuals who have benefited from the humanitarian aid provided. This aid comprises various programs, including water sanitation and hygiene (WASH), cash assistance, food security, psychosocial support, health services and winter aid, spread across six regions in Palestine.

To build the commitment of "Humanitarian Aid Continues," Human Initiative strives to continue the goodwill of Indonesians for Palestinians by providing food, clean water distribution, medical service strengthening and cash assistance for paramedics in Gaza. Other assistance will be distributed in Egyptian refugee camps in the form of cash aid for refugees, patients, paramedics, housing, ambulance procurement and psychosocial support.

For Tomy, this collective goodwill proves that humanity never fades from people's hearts worldwide. He expressed immense gratitude for Indonesians' concern in alleviating the humanitarian crisis in Gaza-Palestine. “All of this is collaborative work, acts of kindness from the community, with Human Initiative acting as a facilitator. We do not own this spirit of kindness, as our vision is to "Goodness for Dignity", concluded Tomy.
