efense Minister Prabowo Subianto welcomed the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of Slovakia Robert Kaliňák, at the Defense Ministry in Jakarta on Thursday.
Despite the geographical distance between Indonesia and Slovakia, the two nations share common interests in the defense sector. Slovakia boasts an advanced defense and high-tech industry that meets NATO standards, positioning the country as a strategic partner for Indonesia to enhance defense cooperation and strengthen military capabilities through the acquisition of cutting-edge defense equipment.
“We reaffirm Indonesia’s commitment to fostering harmonious and mutually beneficial bilateral defense relations with Slovakia, in line with the strong ties between our countries,” said Prabowo.
In the field of education, Indonesia's Defense University and Slovakia’s Armed Forces Academy of General Milan Ratislav Stefanik have agreed to pursue collaboration through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on academic cooperation. The MoU is expected to be signed in the near future.
Accompanying Minister Prabowo during the courtesy visit were the deputy defense minister, special assistant to the defense minister for defense management, the head of defense facilities, the director general of defense strategy and the director general of defense potential.
