o bolster the growth of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the food industry, then Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan has collaborated with Zeppelin Indonesia in organizing the UKM Pangan Award (Food SME Award) 2024.
The ministry’s annual award recognizes SMEs in the food industry for their innovations and endeavors to promote excellent products with strong potential in the highly competitive market, both local and global.
This year’s Food SME Award saw 1,395 SMEs from 34 provinces nationwide submit their entries for the selection stage from July to October.
Zulkifli Hasan, who now serves as Coordiniting Food Minister, granted recognition to 10 winners in five categories during the award ceremony on Oct. 10 at the Nusa Food Exhibition, which ran from Oct. 9 to 12 at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) in BSD City, South Tangerang, Banten.
In addition to the award, all winners received a gas stove and regulator donated by Zeppelin Indonesia to support the growth of food SMEs.
Zeppelin also partook in the Nusa Food Exhibition with a display booth, exhibiting their products and providing useful information on how Zeppelin products could help food SMEs in growing their business.
Some of the products on display included semawar stove, cor stove, cooking mizer, black oven, a spice mixer and a vacuum sealer.
Trade Minister Zulkifli said the exhibition was crucial to market diverse cooking products by domestic manufacturers from Aceh to Papua.
“Tourism is an important sector to support economic growth and requires collaboration through the development of SMEs engaged in the culinary business,” he said.
Eduard Sundjaja, a representative of management at Zeppelin Indonesia, expressed pride over the company’s first collaboration with the Trade Ministry in hosting the Food SME Award 2024.
“We have learned that Indonesian SMEs are worthy of entering the global market. All of us from Zeppelin Indonesia are also taking part in supporting the government’s efforts to advance Indonesian SMEs by presenting [our] quality products that can boost food entrepreneurs across Indonesia,” he said.
