he Peatland and Mangrove Restoration Agency (BRGM) proudly received the Bhumandala Rajata (Silver) Award at the prestigious Bhumandala 2024 award ceremony, organized by the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG) as part of its tenth anniversary celebration. Under the theme “Quality Spatial Data Governance for a Better Indonesia,” this event recognized the essential role of accurate, transparent geospatial information in advancing Indonesia’s development.
The Bhumandala 2024 award ceremony celebrates the efforts of ministries, agencies, regional governments and individuals who excel in geospatial information management and are a critical component of data-driven national development. The award is a well-deserved recognition of BRGM's role in conserving Indonesia's critical ecosystems, particularly through its efforts to restore peatlands and mangroves, which are essential for climate change mitigation.
BIG head Muh Aris Marfai emphasized that the Bhumandala Award is more than just a recognition.
“This award drives accountable governance and improves public services,” he stated. Additionally, this event aims to strengthen geospatial collaboration across government bodies to achieve transparency in geospatial information throughout Indonesia.
The Rajata Award, which BRGM received in the Geospatial Information Network Performance category, was based on a rigorous evaluation of policy management, institutional framework, technology, standards and human resources. An expert panel of academics and government representatives conducted the evaluation. In the context of peatland and mangrove restoration, geospatial information plays a critical role in planning effective rehabilitation and restoration.
"Winning the Rajata Award in the Geospatial Information Network Performance category is an honor for us. It is an improvement from two years ago when we received the Ariti [Bronze] Award. We thank the Geospatial Information Agency for organizing this event and reaffirm BRGM's commitment to improving network performance," Monitoring, Evaluation and Data Development Group Head Dian Nur Amalia said.
BRGM’s contribution to network performance demonstrates strong support for Indonesia’s “One Map, One Data” initiative, underscoring their dedication to transparent and integrated geospatial data governance.
