he Gaia Hotel Bandung proudly celebrates its anniversary this November, marking three years of delivering on its promise of elevated hospitality and Active/Rest. Since its doors opened in November 2021 during the challenging period of the pandemic, Gaia has emerged as more than just a hotel, positioning itself as a holistic destination, a modern village offering guests the opportunity to rest, rediscover and regenerate at their own pace.
As the saying goes, “busy is good” and it has been a wonderful three years serving every guest while breaking ground and presenting new ideas. The Gaia Hotel is grateful for the dedication of its residents and partners, officials, media, institutions and friends whose work and presence make for its success today. This anniversary is a time to reflect on a journey that was initiated by a bold vision, daring creativity and made possible by the collective efforts of many.
In honor of every hand and mind that has shaped its story, The Gaia Hotel presents Beyond the Seen – A Visual Story of GAIA Becoming, a coffee table book that invites guests to explore the lesser-seen sides of the hotel. This curated collection of candid photographs captures moments, sights and emotions witnessed at The Gaia Hotel, from the time of its construction until recently. It records the dreamy moment when fog descends on the Infinity Pool, how sunlight shares its glory on the buildings, the delight in a child’s eyes, the passion and skills behind the glitz and glamor of The Gaia Hotel. Guests can enjoy the book in each room, discovering more about the work behind each moment of comfort and inspiration they experience.
Accompanying the coffee table book is a special photography exhibition at The Gaia Hotel titled “The Journey”. Curated by Bagoes Kresnawan, the exhibition displays some of the sights and stories rarely seen in the past eight years of Gaia’s journey. On Nov. 7, it took the opportunity to bring attention to the possible symbiotic relationship between art and business through a panel talk with four creative partners: Ferry Ridwan, the architectural mastermind behind The Gaia Hotel; Bagus Pandega, creator of the popular art installation "The Echoes” in the lobby; Bagas Indyatmono, CEO of production house Jazz Gunung Indonesia; and Hengky Susanto, photographer of Beyond the Seen: A Visual Story of Gaia Becoming.
Looking forward, Gaia also remains committed to a sustainable future. As a beneficiary of the beautiful surrounding nature, The Gaia Hotel takes its responsibility to be a beacon for the environment and eco-smart lifestyle seriously. As part of its pledge for nature, facilitated by Lif digital wellness app and Benih Baik tree planting CSR program, 160 residents were challenged to complete an impressive 11 million steps in 12 days for the planting of 333 new trees. The can-do spirit and enthusiasm of our residents led to a remarkable achievement of The Gaia Hotel completing the challenge in only seven days, five days ahead of the plan.
The Gaia Hotel invites guests, media and partners to join this celebration of past efforts, present connections and a shared commitment to a brighter, more sustainable future.
