PNM helps homemade syrup business get halal certification and enter souvenir shops

P

T Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting ultra-micro businesses in Indonesia, helping them level up. Through financing and training programs, PNM has assisted many entrepreneurs, including Enung Ukanah, a passion fruit syrup producer from Garut who is now thriving.

Enung faced significant challenges in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, with strong determination and financing support from PNM, she managed to rebuild her passion fruit syrup business from her home kitchen.

Initially, she struggled to expand her market because she lacked a halal certification. Through training and assistance provided by PNM, her product is now halal-certified and has successfully entered well-known souvenir shops in Garut Regency.

“I am very grateful to have connected with PNM. They helped me obtain halal certification, which made my product more accepted by well-known souvenir shops here. I never expected this to happen, as before, I could only sell through small local stalls,” Enung said enthusiastically during a discussion with Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) Head Ahmad Haikal Hassan at Menara PNM on Jan. 30.

PNM's president director stated that the financing and empowerment programs aim to create resilient ultra-micro entrepreneurs who can grow independently. “We believe that with the right support, small businesses can advance and become the backbone of the national economy,” he said.

Arief added that PNM will continue to provide financing access while empowering housewives through entrepreneurship training, financial literacy and business mentoring, including assistance in obtaining halal certification. This initiative has proven effective in increasing the competitiveness of ultra-micro entrepreneurs and driving the local economy.

“It is a blessing for us at PNM to collaborate with BPJPH. We will maximize the role of our account officers (AOs) to educate and assist PNM Mekaar customers in the food business so they can quickly obtain halal certification,” Arief explained.
