he Jakarta Administration has said it will administer booster shots for eligible recipients, regardless of their official residency status as shown on their ID cards, as it kicked off the booster shot rollout on Wednesday.
Jakarta Health Agency head Widyastuti said in a statement that the administration would also provide booster shots for people who currently reside in Jakarta but are not registered as official residents on their ID cards, in a bid to provide additional protection against COVID-19 among the general population of the capital.
“The booster shots will be administered to anyone, whether they have a Jakarta ID card or a non-Jakarta ID card,” the statement read, adding that those not officially registered as Jakarta residents did not have to provide proof of residency to receive the booster shot.
She went on to add that all city-owned healthcare facilities were ready for the booster shot rollout, saying that those eligible to receive the jab could get it at a different vaccination site from where they got the first and second doses.
Indonesian citizens aged 18 years and older and who had their second vaccine dose at least six months ago are eligible to receive the third jab, but the government is prioritizing the booster rollout for the elderly and immunocompromised people, Widyastuti said.
She said currently the administration was using the government’s PeduliLindungi app to issue tickets for the elderly, which notifies them that they are in line to receive a booster shot. Widyastuti called on the public to check on their PeduliLindungi app for booster shot notification and to avoid directly visiting healthcare facilities in order to prevent crowding.
People who received two doses of the Sinovac vaccine will receive half a dose of either the Pfizer or AstraZeneca booster shot, while those who are fully vaccinated with the AstraZeneca vaccine will be boosted with half a dose of the Moderna vaccine.
