he family of Brig. Nopryansyah Yosua Hutabarat, who was reportedly killed in a shootout at the residence of National Police’s internal affairs chief Insp. Gen. Ferdy Sambo, has alleged that the officer’s death was a premeditated murder.
“We have made a report to the police with the allegation of premeditated-murder crime,” Kamaruddin Simanjuntak, the coordinator for the legal team representing the family, said at the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Department office in Jakarta on Monday.
Kamaruddin said they have prepared evidence for their report, including the difference between information given by the police’s spokesperson Brig. Jen. Ahmad Ramadhan about Yosua’s death and the wounds on his body.
The police have repeatedly stressed that police officer E, ranked a second agent (Bharada) in the police’s Mobile Brigade unit, was acting in self-defence when he shot and killed Yosua, who outranked him, at Ferdy’s residence. The police said 28-year-old Yosua had initiated the shootout by drawing and firing his weapon at Bharada E.
The family, however, found laceration wounds and bruises not reported by the police.
“There were wounds under the eyes, on the nose, lips, shoulders, hands and on the legs,” Kamaruddin said.
The legal team also reported that Yosua’s three cell phones were missing and alleged hacking was involved.
