A joint operation mounted by immigration officials, police and the migrant workers' protection agency in North Sumatra have foiled an attempt to traffic Indonesian workers to Cambodia.

A joint team of law enforcement and local officials has foiled an illegal attempt to send 211 migrants workers to Sihanoukville, Cambodia, at Kualanamu International Airport in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra.
Personnel from the local immigration office, police and the migrant workers’ protection agency prevented the departure of a chartered plane at 1:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
“All of the workers have been taken to North Sumatra Police headquarters for questioning,” Deli Serdang Police chief Sr. Comr. Irsan Sinuhaji told The Jakarta Post.
Irsan added that the workers hailed from Aceh, East Java, Jambi, Jakarta, North Sumatra and West Kalimantan, and that the planned departure was organized by a recruitment company.
“We are investigating the case,” he said.
