akarta-owned bus operator Transjakarta resumed 24-hour bus services on Monday, ending a curtailed timetable that had prevailed under pandemic restrictions.
The night buses now serve passengers from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. in all of Transjakarta’s 13 main corridors, a return to pre-pandemic service. They complement the regular bus service, which operates from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Previously, the night bus service ran from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m. only.
Transjakarta corporate secretary Anang Rizkani Noor cited the recent fuel price hike as one of the main reasons for the resumption of the 24-hour bus service, so that people could have a more affordable option for commuting.
“The 24-hour bus service applies to all 13 [main] corridors. This extension of operational hours will hopefully ease citizens’ burdens due to the fuel price hike,” Anang said in a press release on Monday.
The corridors that are affected are Blok M to Kota, Pulogadung to Harmoni, Kalideres to Pasar Baru, Pulogadung to Tosari, PGC to Ancol, Ragunan to Harmoni, Kampung Rambutan to Harmoni, Lebak Bulus to Harmoni, Pinang Ranti to Pluit, PGC to Tanjung Priok, Pulogebang to Pulogadung, Penjaringan to Sunter and Puri Beta to Tendean.
The new operational hours of night bus service exclude feeder buses and non-BRT buses, which will remain operational from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The resumption of the 24-hour bus service follows the ongoing revitalization of a portion of Transjakarta bus stops. In March, the city allocated Rp 600 billion (US$40 million) to revitalize 46 bus stops across the city.
