"Less than 500 meters away from the existing station, the Transportation Ministry owns four hectares of land and we plan to use this as the site of the new station. We will build this new station to increase the number of tracks from four to six," Budi was quoted by kompas.com after joining President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo in the inauguration of Manggarai Station as one of Jakarta's primary transportation hubs.
Budi said the Transportation Ministry would work with the Public Works and Housing Ministry and the Jakarta City administration in implementing the project.
Currently, Tanah Abang Station handles more than 198,000 passengers traveling through its gates everyday.
