he Central Java Police dishonorably discharged five officers in alleged corruption related to non-commissioned officers’ recruitment in 2022. Two civil servants are also implicated in the case.

Sr. Comr. Iqbal Alqudussy, the regional police spokesman, said the police officers, who were identified only by initials, allegedly asked money from the parents of the candidates who have passed the test.

Comr. AR, Comr. KN, Adj. Comr. CS, Chief Brig. Z and Brig. EW collected a total of around Rp 9 billion (around US$586,000).

“Dozens of parents were asked and had given the money,” Iqbal said. The spokesman said the money had been returned to the parents.

The alleged graft was revealed during an operation by the police’s Internal Affairs Division in June last year.

Iqbal said investigation into alleged ethics and criminal violations against the five were ongoing. (dre)
