Prabowo Subianto is looking at loyalty, competence and integrity as standards in vetting names who will sit in his cabinet once he is inaugurated as president next month.
rabowo Subianto is looking at loyalty, competence and integrity as standards in vetting prospective ministers for his incoming administration, a spokesperson for the president-elect has said.
With there being less than a month left until Prabowo steps into office, speculation surrounding the size of his cabinet and who will fill the ministerial posts continues to gain traction amid his plan to have a cabinet bigger than those of his predecessors.
“With Pak Prabowo as commander in chief, those who become his ministers must fall in line with the various development agendas that Prabowo proposes," spokesperson to the president Dahnil Azhar Simanjuntak said on Saturday, as quoted by Tempo.co.
Dahnil said that Prabowo, who chairs the Gerindra Party, also expected that his ministers would have integrity, in line with his commitment to eradicating corruption, and the skills to do the job.
Gerindra executive Ahmad Muzani previously said that Prabowo wished to have an enlarged zaken cabinet, which in the Indonesian context denotes one consisting of experts in their respective fields, but that these experts do not necessarily have to be outsiders to political parties.
While Prabowo has made a shortlist of potential cabinet members, he is still considering other possible names, including those proposed by political parties in his Onward Indonesia Coalition (KIM) and those proposed by mass organizations and professional groups, according to Dahnil.
Many parties in the KIM alliance, including Gerindra’s former rivals in February’s election, have put forward their finest talent as potential ministers.
