he I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar has recorded a 14-percent surge in passengers to a total of 6.7 million during the third quarter (July to September) compared to the previous quarter.
The airport’s general manager Ahmad Syaugi Shahab said Thursday that the third quarter saw the highest number of passengers this year. In the first quarter (January to March), there were 5.2 million passengers, and in the second quarter (April to June), there were 6 million passengers, Ahmad said.
From January to September 2024, the total number of passengers at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport reached 17.98 million, an increase of 14 percent compared to the same period in 2023, which recorded 15.8 million passengers in the nine-month period.
Ahmad said that of the 17.98 million passengers, 10.5 million were international travelers.
He also reported a 5 percent increase in flights during the third quarter of 2024 compared to that of 2023, rising from 101,151 to 105,979 flights.
"International flights outnumbered domestic flights, with 53,567 international flights and 52,412 domestic ones," he said.
Ahmad said that the numbers showed a positive recovery in the operational performance of the airport after the pandemic.
