he National Police have launched an investigation into Ngada Police Chief Sr. Adj. Comr. Fajar Widyadharma Lukman in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) following allegations of child sexual assault, based on a report from Australian authorities.
The NTT Police's Director of General Crime Investigation, Comr. Patar Silalahi, said that the alleged incident took place in June of last year at a hotel in the province's capital, Kupang.
"[Fajar] rented a hotel room in Kupang and contacted a woman, identified only as F, and allegedly requested that she bring him a child in exchange for Rp 3 million [US$182]," Patar said on Tuesday as quoted by Kompas.
"F then allegedly brought a six year old girl into the hotel room, who was later assaulted by [Fajar]," he added.
According to Patar, Fajar allegedly recorded the assault and uploaded the video to an Australian pornographic website, which ultimately caught the attention of local authorities.
In January, the Australian Police alerted the National Police headquarters about the video, leading the NTT Police to open an investigation into the incident.
Authorities later discovered that Fajar had used his personal driver's license to rent the hotel room where the alleged assault took place. Investigators also found evidence indicating that Fajar had been using narcotics.
