View all search resultsPolice have released the identities of eight out of 15 individuals arrested in connection with the kidnapping and killing of a BRI branch manager, whose body was discovered on Aug. 21 in a rice field in Bekasi, West Java.
he Jakarta Metropolitan Police arrested 15 people in connection with the abduction and homicide of Muhammad Ilham Pradipta, who headed the Cempaka Putih branch of state-owned Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) in Central Jakarta, chief spokesman Sr. Comr. Ade Ary Syam said on Tuesday.
Ade said nine individuals were arrested by officers from the violent crimes unit while six individuals were arrested by officers from the mobile detectives unit (Resmob), both of which fall under the General Crimes Directorate.
The investigation is ongoing, in particular to determine the role each individual played, and to uncover the motive for the crime.

“The examination is being done carefully and [thoroughly], showing the evidence and matching the information from one suspect with those from other suspects, so we can conclude [...] who did what, who can be named suspects and so on. We are still developing the case, it takes time,” Ade said, as quoted by Kompas.com.
Swift arrests
The case unfolded on Aug. 21 at around 5:30 a.m., when a resident of Karangsambung hamlet in Serang Baru district, Bekasi regency, West Java, came across Ilham’s body while herding cattle in a rice field.
