Sub: Couple found found guilty of taking bribes, extorting subordinates

The Semarang Corruption Court in Central Java sentenced on Wednesday former mayor Hevearita Gunaryanti Rahayu to five years in prison and her husband, local councilor Alwin Basri, to seven years for accepting billions of rupiah in illegal gratuities.

Besides the prison terms, the court also fined each of them Rp 300 million (US$ 18,267), with an additional four months in jail if the fines go unpaid.

Hevearita, also known as Ita, was ordered to pay Rp 683 million in restitution, while Alwin was told to pay Rp 4 billion. Both face another six months behind bars if they fail to settle their restitution.
